    Description

1906 Handsome Pair Antique English Sterling Silver Covered Sauce Tureens
Presented is a handsome pair of antique English sterling silver small tureens or covered serving dishes. These dishes date to 1906 and were made by Ollivant & Botsford. The dishes are made in a classical double handle form, with a reeded rim and Hepplewhite style finials. The lids have a notch to accommodate a serving utensil. The look of the tureens is very similar to Gorham's classic Plymouth pattern, as that pattern was designed to emulate the same type of older English pieces these tureens are modeled after. Therefore they would match Plymouth pattern table settings very nicely.
This pair is in excellent condition. There are no splits, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Each tureen is hallmarked on the side with the lion passant for sterling silver, the anchor for the city of Birmingham, the date letter g for 1906, and the maker's mark for Ollivant & Botsford. Each lid is stamped on the lip with the lion passant for sterling silver and the date letter g for 1906 as well.
Each tureen measures about 9 by 4 ¼ by 6 ¼ inches, LxWxH.
The total weight for the pair is 876 grams or 30.9 regular ounces.
