Description
Presented is a superb quality English sterling silver brandy warmer or small side-handled pot, with burner and stand. This piece dates to 1917 and was made by James Parkes & Co. The pot is beautifully made in a classical, bulbous-bodied form, with a dark wooden finial and handle mounted on the side. The pot has a tension mount lid as well as a little hinged flap over the spout. The pot has a fabulously engraved crest of a dragon holding a spear, quite detailed and well done. The pot rests on a little stand, with three scrolled feet. The stand supports a little burner, underneath the pot. This piece is hallmarked on the underside with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head for the city of London, the date letter P for 1917, and the maker's mark for James Parkes & Co. All four marks are repeated on the lip of the lid, on the stand, and on the burner, so every piece is original.
This piece is in great condition. There are no splits, no leaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The height to the top of the handle is about 6 3/8 inches, or about 6 inches to the top of the finial of the lid. The piece measures about 8 1/2 inches from handle to side.
This piece weighs 556 grams or 19.6 regular ounces.
