    Description

Presented is a fabulous old English Georgian sterling silver soup or table spoon. This piece dates to the 1760s-1770s. The spoon is a good size, well made with a nice thick stem. The end of the handle has a distinctive downward turn. The terminal of the handle is monogrammed with 'MR' in elegant script.
The spoon is in great overall condition. There is some surface wear, but nothing significant, certainly not what you'd expect for a piece that's been around for about 250 years. There are no splits, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The spoon is hallmarked on the back of the stem with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head crowned for the city of London, and a maker's mark probably for Thomas Wilson.
The spoon is about 8 7/8 inches long.
The spoon weighs 62.9 grams or 2.2 regular ounces.
