    Description

Presented is a fabulous set of 4 Scottish Georgian sterling silver tea or coffee spoons. These spoons date to the first quarter of the 1800s and were made by Alexander Spence. The spoons are beautifully decorated with hand engraved bright cut designs throughout the handles. Each spoon has a monogram of ED in flowing script, in an oval cartouche on the handle.
This set is in great overall condition. The details of the bright-cut designs are nice and crisp. A couple of the spoons have some minor dings to their bowls, but nothing excessive. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Each spoon is hallmarked on the back of the handle with the thistle mark for sterling silver, as used by Edinburgh, King George III's head duty mark, and the maker's mark for Alexander Spence.
Each spoon is about 5 1/8 inches long.
The total weight for the set is 50 grams or 1.8 regular ounces.
