Description

~ An Exceptionally Rare and Fine Scottish Provincial Silver Fiddleback Dessert Spoon ~
~ Made by Alexander Glenny, c1840 ~
This is a wonderful example of Provincial Scottish Sterling Silver by one of
the rarest of all 19th Century Provincial Silversmiths.
(Findlay 2nd Edition, p228)
It could have been made while he was still at Stonehaven,
before he moved to Arbroath and Montrose.
It is in the Fiddleback pattern in absolutely mint condition - worthy of any collection. The bowl is certainly a 10/10.
It is 7"
in length and weighs 35 grams.
It has two hallmarks repeated twice over -
Maker's Mark 'A.G'  for Alexander Glenny
Floral Device - perhaps a nod to the Thistle
This Dessert Spoon is engraved with
the
letter 'C' would make a fine addition to your collection.
