    Tied for top pop, one of only 2 mint state examples exist. The Elusive Piece of 8 SCD - So Called Dollar.
    1939 TREASURE ISLAND DOLLAR GOLDEN GATE EXPOSITION HK# 485 SO-CALLED DOLLAR - RARE
    Medal, 1939, BR Silver Plated, PIECE OF EIGHT TREASURE ISLAND DOLLAR, SPANISH MILLED DOLLAR, HK-485, also known as PILLAR DOLLAR - Rarity-7, United States, San Francisco, CA., GGIE.
    So Called Dollar HK-485, NGC MS62, Cert# 2608043-012. This is the exceptionally rare Piece of Eight Dollar, Virtually as Struck, not to be confused with the common Treasure Island Dollar (R-2).
    Little information can be developed on this issue. Apparently sale planned for 1939 and possibly 1,000 struck; however, "late delivery" resulted in sale of only 150 to 400 for each; remainder of issue melted down.

    Only two are graded in mint state, MS62 being the highest grade, the only specimens known in MS62 are this example from the Hornreich Collection (not on label) and the other from the famous Ostheimer specimen.
