    Description

    Rare pair of women's Potawatomi moccasins with different patterns of beadwork decorating the side flaps. Features fully beaded side flaps trimmed with dark blue fabric around the perimeter and constructed with a zig zag center seam. The side panels extend to the bottom of the moccasins, are cut diagonally at the front so they project forward at the bottoms. Both outer panels have two horizontal rows of step-sided "checkerboard" triangles, with four in each row, composed of red, white and iridescent gold beads. A band of iridescent turquoise and crystal beads accent the front, bottom and back edges of the panels. The inner pair of panels have two horizontal rows of diamond motifs, with eight on top and nine below. Two bands of red beads are located above and below the top row of diamonds, the background is filled with white. Black beads accent the front, bottom and back edges of the panels.
