Description
This is an 18th-century British sterling ladle which was embellished in the Victorian era. It measures 5-7/16" long and weighs 1.0 troy ounces. It is in very good-to-excellent condition. The reverse features "stretched" markings very low on the handle, which include the "Lion Passant" (British sterling), an "R" (?)", and two indistinguishable marks. This type of marking was typically of the late 18th-century. The reverse of the handle also features a crest which appears to be a gryphon with a fish in its mouth. Please ask any questions. It is a lovely piece! Please see my other auctions for more interesting antiques and collectibles.
