This is a wonderful Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Tea Infuser.
Teaette or Tea ette.
George Gillett.
London, 1892.
A Rare and Collectible item.
The item is fully hallmarked with English Solid Silver Hallmarks for London, 1892 (date letter 'R' within a Shield) and the Maker's Mark of George Gillett 'GG' (see photos).
The top of the handle is also marked "Teaette Patent 5594" (see photos).
For Loose Tea Leaves.
Both Sides of the Spoon Bowl are Domed and are Beautifully Pierced.
They are held together with a circular screw - when loosened, the hinged bowl opens.
A fine piece of Antique Victorian Tea Silver.
Length
: 5 3/4 inches (14.5 cm)
There are
no
monograms or initials.
It works very well - the screw mechanism functions very well, just as it should.
It weighs 22.7 grams (0.72 troy oz).
There are two tiny dents on one of the pierced covers (see photos - these are very slight).
The inside of the pierced spoon bowl is scratched (see Last Photo and other photos).
There is some very minor overall wear from age, use, and handling over the years.
Otherwise, it is in Great
Condition
