VERY RARE Beaded Baby Iroquois Moccasins, ca 1860-1890! INCREDIBLE!!
A beautiful pair of 19th Century Iroquois baby moccasins. Leather is very soft and pliable. The vamp and cuffs are beaded on black velvet with old cotton thread. Old paper was used under the beading and velvet which was common at the time. The cuffs are bordered with red basting cloth and blue ribbon was used as shoelaces. The glass beads are beautifully done in blue, red, white and clear.
There is a tiny hole in the toe of the right moccasin that is hard to find.
These were a favorite in my many displays of Native American beadwork.
