Vintage Mexican Pottery Plate Charger Serving Tray Jorge Wilmot
Artes Folklorico presents a vintage Mexican pottery plate, charger or serving tray by the renowned, Jorge Wilmot.
Although born in Mexico, Wilmot trained in Europe and was a visionary who combined both European and Asian techniques of production.
He set up a studio in the late 1950s in Tonala, Jalisco, Mexico.
Wilmot became famous worldwide for his stoneware pottery.
This plate is a perfect example.
The serving tray features a beautiful rectangular shape featuring a wonderful bird, butterflies and foliage.
There is a striking border design as well. The charger is signed along the bottom right with Wilmot’s characteristic, ‘W.’
The plate is in excellent vintage condition (see photographs).
The piece measures 9-1/2 inches in height, 12-1/4 inches in length and 1-1/2 inches in depth.
