vintage Olinalá Lacquered Gourd or Linaloe Wood tray, a bit of handmade folk art, hand painted & incised from Guerrero, Mexico circa 1950s.
This lovely platter is believed to have been made from a natural gourd. The etched raised black motifs are quite detailed and really pop against the red lacquer background. Some motifs are birds and animals engraved and painted inside, and have a geometric pattern outside.
The overall condition is good, the form is organic. Beautiful and fairly rare. 14.5 x 2.5 inches
