Pedestrian struck, killed by car in pre-dawn crash in East Orange

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car Saturday morning in East Orange, authorities said.
The person was hit shortly before 5:30 a.m. on Ampere Plaza near the corner of Whitney Place, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said.
Officials didn’t identify the pedestrian, saying only that the investigation is ongoing.
East Orange police referred questions to the prosecutor’s office.
